As you've probably learned, we've begun a deep dive in the Neurocomplexity [defined below] sphere behind the scenes at Method [more info on the BTS who + what in the coming months] and this theory and model are currently taking shape in some big ways. I'm looking forward to the future when we are ready to communicate all of the new shapes of this (IMO) important model, but wanted to share this slice in the meantime--for those interested [if not, we get it].
I received an awesome message from a Method follower who was curious about the changes brewing in the Neurocomplexity space at Method, especially regarding neurodivergence. This individual [who kindly gave me permission to share here] specifically asked: Will your newer neurocomplexity model still have room in the "tent" for me if I tend towards believing the following?
I sent the following response and realized that there are likely many of you (you?) out there who are wondering this, or something similar, about the evolution of Neurocomplexity and our philosophy of neurodivergence [as Method ever evolves]. So, in the case that it could be helpful for you to know where we stand in this space: "Thanks for the email + curiosity here. Neurocomplexity is an inclusive term/model that definitely includes diagnoses (self + professional) of neurodivergence. It's a new lens to look through that names the connection of neurodivergence to divergences in the physical body (somatic sensations, cellular differences, chronic health issues) + metaphysical energetic field (intuition, creativity, energetic connecting, etc.) for many neurodivergent people. So, Neurocomplexity is more of a connecting point for many [often siloed] frameworks to work together in hopes of combining research strategies and, most of all, increasing holistic client care to consider complexity of the nervous system. For instance, a long term hope for this model would be for more health care providers to consider and integrate one's Autism diagnosis when exploring health concerns (ie seeing health through the lens of neurodivergence and vice versa). For the individual, Neurocomplexity is a way to understand, embrace and have compassion for one's own wiring and how it manifests in other realms of health/existence. Hope this makes sense [in a nutshell]!" Would love to hear your questions and learn about your experience thus far with our term Neurocomplexity. Does it fit for you? Are you a professional who works in this framework? Are you complexity-affirming and didn't even know it!? I'll try to update here as things unfold. Until then...
